Covid-19 pandemic alert

Dear participants,

in connection with the current government regulation (current and the new ones valid from 31.8.2021), it is necessary to meet the following conditions for participation in the mass event and to prove one of the required documents:

  • proof of completion of the RT-PCR test with a negative result no later than 7 days before the start of the event
  • proof of passing the POC test with a negative result no later than 72 hours ago
  • proof of completed vaccination - at least 14 days after the second one or after the single one
  • proof of COVID-19 positivity, confirmed by an RT-PCR test by a laboratory not older than 180 days.

If you cannot provide any of the a.m. proofs, a preventive antigen test will be performed on-site using a self-testing kit.

A respirator (FFP2) or other protective equipment guaranteeing the same degree of protection must be worn in all indoor areas where more than one person accumulates. Consuming beverages and food is the only exception to this rule.

We will monitor the development of the situation and update these measures according to the current regulations.

We appreciate your understanding.

More information

Dear Colleagues, Ladies and Gentlemen:

I am pleased to invite you to attend the 26th Biochemical Congress in České Budějovice (Czech Republic), which will take place from August 29th – September 1st, 2021 under the motto "Life is Biochemistry, Biochemistry is Life". The congress returns to the South Bohemian metropolis after thirteen years and was last hosted by the university-academic campus in České Budějovice in 2008. Since then, much has happened in life sciences including biochemistry and molecular biology, but also at the congress venue itself. The joint university-academic campus of the University of South Bohemia (USB) and the Biology Centre of the Academy of Sciences (BC CAS) in České Budějovice has grown in less than 30 years, and is further developing the goal of fulfilling the vision of an internationally respected centre of life sciences especially in the field of evolutionary biology and ecology as well as selected issues of biomedicine. The 26th Biochemical Congress is organized in the spirit of tradition by the Czech Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in cooperation with the Slovak Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, and with the organizational participation of the USB Faculty of Science and the BC CAS Institutes in České Budějovice. For the first time, we decided to organize the congress fully in English (with the exception of the section for secondary school students) and with the participation of foreign colleagues. The thematic structure of the congress scientific sections was chosen to correspond to the traditional structure, and at same time to reflect currently the latest achievements in molecular life sciences.

On behalf of the organizers of the biochemical congress, I would like to wish this year's congress to be a successful meeting of biochemists and molecular biologists of the Central European dimension. My wish can be fulfilled if you join us at the congress, if you come to present results of your scientific research, and if you come to share experience of your scientific knowledge and discovery. Pleasant environment of the congress venue, a charm of the city of České Budějovice, and a beauty of the South Bohemian region may be an attraction for your decision to attend the 26th Biochemical Congress in České Budějovice.

We look forward to seeing you at the 26th Biochemistry Congress in České Budějovice.

Libor Grubhoffer
Chairman of the Congress
